It seems that food trends change with the wind, but for Le Gourmet Girl, that’s her inspiration. For the past five years, Chris Edwards Wekking has created an ever-changing product line, and she’s nailed it going into the winter season.
I’ve known Chris for twenty years when we worked together in the San Francisco catering world. For those of you who’d go to the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market, you’d remember Chris as the seafood vendor with Barbies interspersed with cod and shrimp. As my on-site event chef, her fine cuisine, sense of humor and creative displays appeased the very fussy high-end client’s needs for their catered couture fashion shows. The stories we could tell are endless, and we’ve both moved on, but food has always been one of our connections and why I wanted to write this post.
This season’s line-up include Le Gourmet Girl’s Organic Garlic Herb Cooking Buttah (pictured above) which works as a perfect spread on bread and potatoes or drizzled over pasta, chicken; you name it. It’s made with coconut oil so no worries for those with dietary concerns. Which is the basis for Le Gourmet Girl’s products. All her products are organic, vegan and free of: glutens, GMOs, MSG, additives, preservatives and dyes. Her kitchen is powered by solar panels and her vehicle is an e-hybrid. She is very conscious of the environment and what people eat.
For vegans or people cutting down on meat, there’s Meatless Burgers with Quinoa Lentils and Chia seeds along with steel cut oats, smoked paprika, herbs, garlic and onion. The mixture has a nice bbq flavor and moist texture. Customers cook the mix on the stove for 30-40 minutes, let cool and then form 8 Patties. They can be stored in the fridge for a week or freeze. Then just pan saute or broil.
The Wicked Good Chowdah Soup Mix comes without clams (vegan) but can be added to get that flavor and bite. Le Gourmet Girl’s chowder is New England style and provides the organic base of dehydrated Idaho spuds, garlic, onion, pepper and herbs. Add water, milk/cream and or stock. Customers can also add a tin or jar of clams. Add some corn, touch of salt if you want…yer there! All the mixes are sodium free. Vegans would add unsweetened plant based milk, water and or stock with sauteed mushrooms.
Other products include: Seasonings, Salts, Fruit Vinegars, Herb and Spice Infused Coconut Cooking Oil, Vegan Soup/Chili/Rice Mixes, Extracts for Baking, Non-GMO Multi Grain Flour, Low Sodium Items, GF and Keto Mixes, Ginger Coconut Sugar, Vanilla Bean Cane Sugar, Seasoned Almond Flour, Seasoned Nutrional Yeast, Heirloom Popping Corn and Fair Trade Cocoa Mix.
All items are in the low risk Nightshade category, created and made by hand in Birch Bay, WA, with national shipping available.
Le Gourmet Girl will be at several holiday shows in Washington state so stop by if you’re in the area.
